Organ Donation Week 2024
This week is Organ Donation Week 2024, celebrating 30 years of changing and saving lives!
Organ Donation Week is a weeklong campaign that takes place every year, raising awareness about the ongoing need for organ donors, and this year the NHS Organ Donor Register is 30 years old!
Since its creation in 1994, thousands of lives have been saved thanks to people agreeing to donate their organs after death. However, more people than ever before are in need for a life-saving transplant across the UK, with more than 7,600 people on the active waiting list, including 68 in County Durham and Darlington.
Making the decision to join the organ donor register is so important and takes just 2 minutes.
