Neurodevelopment Pathway (Age 5 to 17) – Professionals Consultation Line – please share your views!

The North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board are currently reviewing their Neurodevelopment Pathway Professionals Consultation Line Service for Children and Young People in Teesside.

The Neurodevelopment Assessment Team accepts referrals for the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)  for children and young people within the Teesside area; this includes Middlesbrough, Redcar, Stockton and Hartlepool. Once referred children and young people are provided information around the bubble of support and advice of where they can access support to meet their needs.

Since September 2023, the route for referral into the service has been through the  ‘Professional’s Consultation Hotline’. Professionals who know the child well such as teachers, social workers and mental health support workers who wish to refer a child or young person to their service can contact their service to book a professional’s consultation slot with a clinical nurse specialist in their team. During the phone call, concerns relating to the child will be discussed and explored. The clinical nurse specialist will then advise the professional as to whether a referral should be completed to be accepted into service for full assessment or if other signposting and advice is needed. The professional will then feed this back to the parent/carers.

They are currently reviewing this service to understand the experience of professionals and families, and to help them make it better.  Please let them know your views of the service by filling in one of the surveys below.

The closing date for the surveys is 30/09/2024
