About Theatre Hullabaloo
Theatre Hullabaloo is one of the UKs leading children’s arts charities. We have been inspiring children, and changing the lives of families through creativity since 1979.
We run a purpose built venue in Darlington – The Hullabaloo, on Borough Road – that provides a year-round programmes of performances, participation activities, specialist family services and a completely free creative play space for children in their early years and their grownups.
We also run a family festival every summer in South Park, and a socially prescribed creative play programme called Let’s Play that is a lifeline for many families with new babies.
More than 30,000 people engage with our activities every year.

Opening times: Creative Play is open 10am-2pm Monday to Saturday, other events and performance times vary – also in 2024 our summer family festival runs 11am-7pm Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July in South Park Our Let’s Play programme runs at various times throughout the but is usually on a Thursday.
Age ranges for each service:
- Creative Play – children under 5 and their grownups
- Performances, workshops, activities – age ranges vary but usually under 10
- Let’s Play, play on prescription programme – there is a 0-2 group and a 3-4s group.
- Hullabaloo in the Park Festival – is open to all children under 10 and their families.
