NQA Foodbank Darlington - service update
Their website has recently been updated to include the ability to change the language, to allow further access for people who don't speak English as their first language. They have included fields on their support form to allow agencies to refer clients directly to them, and are able to accommodate most requests. Catering for people without access to cooking facilities, people who have special requirements (such as vegetarian, halal, kosher and more).
Between March and April 2021, they have been moving to a new location. Their services are now back open to support those in need, and they are soon to be offering even more support.
The new location is based in a Community Centre in Northgate, which is also home to Darlington Borough Council's Youth Employment Iniative, Job Centre Outreach, Darlo Radio and more at "Pathfinder House, 156 Northgate, Darlington, DL1 1QU".
This allows them to provide much more comprehensive support than they were able to previously, and allows them to fast track clients to organisations which can assist further.
They have had brilliant support from companies such as "McDonalds", "B&M Bargains", "Poundland", "Asda" and "Morrisons" with donations. It is because of these donations, and the support from the community, that they are able to help those in need.
Over the next few months, they hope to continue to develop partnerships with other organisations and groups, which they feel will allow them to help more people. This will include further support for people who are struggling to support themselves, including cooking courses, access to workshops, volunteering positions and options for further employment.
The foodbank is open to the public for "walk in" service every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday between 12 and 5pm. Everyone who helps there is a volunteer and give up their own time to help others.
