The Pharmacy First service adds to the existing consultation service and enables community pharmacies to complete episodes of care for 7 common conditions following defined clinical pathways. If you have used Pharmacy First we'd love to know your thoughts!
The Pharmacy First service is expected to free up GP appointments for patients who need them most and will give people quicker and more convenient access to safe and high quality healthcare.
Your local pharmacy can now treat these conditions without the need for a GP appointment:
- Sinusitis - swollen nasal passages aged 12 years and over
- Sore throat aged 5 years and over
- Infected insect bite aged 1 year and over
- Impetigo - a bacterial skin infection aged 1 year and over
- Shingles aged 18 years and over
- Earache aged 1 to 17 years
- Simple urinary tract infection (water infection) women aged 16 years to 64 years
