National blood stocks update - and call for help from O negative donors
The following is from the NHS Blood and Transplant service.
Thank you to everyone that has supported NHBST and the Trust Transfusion Team during the National Amber Alert, unfortunately we are seeing a sustained fall in the donation of O negative blood.
This is a plea for all O negative blood donors to urgently book an appointment by calling 0300 123 23 23. If you are offered an appointment for a date several months in advance, please take it. Red cell donations only have a shelf life of 35 days, so we may have an initial donation rush, however we need to sustain our levels.
