Baby Loss Awareness Week, 9 - 15 October - Memorial services in Durham and Darlington

Baby Loss Awareness Week begins today and runs until Tuesday 15 October, with memorial services taking place in Durham and Darlington in the coming days.

This week is a time to reflect on the experiences of thousands of families across the UK who have faced the heartache of pregnancy loss and baby death. It's dedicated to remembering, honouring, and supporting those affected by these tragic events.

This year, to coincide with Baby Loss Awareness Week, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Chaplains are inviting parents and families grieving pregnancy loss or the death of a baby to attend special memorial services. These services provide a compassionate space for reflection and remembrance, welcoming all family members, regardless of faith or background.

In addition to raising awareness, CDDFT’s Maternity and Infant Loss Bereavement Counselling Service offers crucial support to parents, families, and carers across County Durham. The service provides specialist counselling to those affected by pregnancy loss or the death of an infant up to 12 months old.

Families can reach the service by phone or text at 07980 729859, or via email at cddft.maternitybereavementcounsellingservice@nhs.net
