Farm-tastic tractor exhibition returns to Darlington town-centre
The following is a news release from Darlington Borough Council.
Following a successful event last year, Tractor and Digger Day, sponsored by Lloyd Ltd, returns to Darlington Market Square on Tuesday 28 May. New Holland tractors, construction machinery and smaller agricultural equipment will be arriving in the town from 11am and will be available to explore until around 3pm.
This family friendly event will give your little ones the chance to get up close to some seriously big machinery and climb in the drivers seat to learn how they are operated. Ride-on pedal tractors will also be available to let them put their newfound skills to the test, as well as small play equipment and colouring-in activities.
Staff from Darlington Borough Council Children’s Service will also be on-hand to offer advice and guidance to anyone interested in becoming a foster carer.
David Greedy, dealer principal at Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland, said:
“Agriculture is a really interesting and exciting industry which delivers high quality food and produce for consumers and can play a significant role in safeguarding the natural environment. Events like this give people the chance to find out more about the machinery and technology which supports UK farmers and helps to engage our local communities with the vital work they do.”
Cllr Chris McEwan, cabinet member for economy, Darlington Borough Council said:
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to Lloyd Ltd. for their support in making this event happen. The Borough of Darlington covers an area of almost 200 km² including rural communities across 26 civil parishes. Agriculture is an important part of our local economy and events like this help to raise awareness of this vital industry and the business and career opportunities associated with it. They also encourage footfall in the town centre which supports local retail and hospitality businesses, while helping to strengthen and unify our local community.”
