Nepacs - Autumn training

NEPACS have a range of virtual training courses taking place over the next few weeks for anyone working with children or families inc health care, local authorities, criminal justice, education and the voluntary sector.

All of the following information is directly from NEPACS

- HIDDEN SENTENCE TRAINING (27 Sept and 5 October) – This 1 day course (delivered virtually in 2 parts) gives you a clear overview of the offender’s journey, its impact on the family from arrest to release and a range of strategies and resources to help you support them in your work.

- HIDDEN SENTENCE AWARENESS TRAINING (14 Nov) - This 2.5 hours course will give you an awareness of the impact of offending on the families of offenders, the support needs of these families and the benefits of maintaining family ties. It will also look at the various support services available to the families and friends of offenders.

- CARE LEAVER AWARENESS TRAINING (26 Sept) - Exploring what it means to be a care leaver and the potential issues faced by care experienced people. This 3 hour course also gives awareness on the rights and entitlements of legal care leavers aged 18 to 25 years.

- LISTENING SUPPORT SKILLS TRAINING (4 Oct) -  A 2.5 hour workshop to assist frontline staff and volunteers refresh and improve their communication skills in order to offer a professional and supportive listening service.

- PARENTAL RIGHTS IN PRISON TRAINING (17 Oct) - A 2.5 hour awareness session for all those who may work with a family where a parent is in custody or is at risk of going to custody. It looks a the legalities of parental rights and the challenges and barriers prisoners face in exercising their parental rights and remaining an active parent.
