Report finds rise in vulnerable women dying early in north-east England
The charity 'Changing Lives' have caught national attention with their report into the growing number of disadvantaged and vulnerable women dying prematurely in the North East because public services are not meeting their needs.
In an article published in the Guardian, the report says:
"...in 2021, a woman in the north-east of England was 1.7 times more likely to die early as a result of suicide, addiction or domestic murder than women living in England and Wales as a whole.
Between 2018 and 2021, such deaths increased by 15% in the north-east..."
