New President Announced as Darlington Rotary Celebrates 100 years

Congratulations to our CEO Michelle Thompson B.E.M. who is the new President of Darlington Rotary Club in their centenary year 2023 -2024.

Speaking about her new role as President, Michelle said:

“I’m so proud to be the new President of one of the largest and most active clubs in Great Britain and Ireland. We are blessed with such talented, successful, creative leaders and problem-solvers who truly care about their community and making a difference to the causes we choose to support.

When I was invited by Rotarian Heather Scott in 2015 to attend a Rotary lunch to speak about Healthwatch Darlington, I was taken by the warm welcome I received and the fun and laughter that ensued. Both Heather and Rotarian Alasdair McConachie encouraged me to explore membership and it was the best thing I ever did! I joined 8 years ago, and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute making a difference to local, national, and international causes.

Darlington Rotary Club is the epitome of the Rotary Vision:

"Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves."

As Darlington Rotary celebrates their centenary, they'd like to hear your stories and help raise awareness of the help they offer.

  • If over the years you have been one of the causes or projects supported by Darlington Rotary they are asking if you would kindly send a simple message of appreciation for their support and an example of the difference it has made.
  • A short video message of 1 or 2 minutes, recorded on a mobile is ideal, or it could be in the form of photos with captions, or just emailed messages.
  • These messages will be put together in a presentation for Darlington Rotary's formal centenary celebration event on 12th August, and used in articles to raise awareness about the help Darlington Rotary can offer.
