Healthwatch Darlington marks Volunteers’ Week (1st-7th June) 2023
With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.
The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.
Our CEO, Michelle Thompson BEM said:
“Healthwatch Darlington is your independent community champion for health and care services in Darlington. We rely on our wonderful family of volunteers to help us reach out, to listen, to help and to signpost our local population to the services and information they need, and to influence local decision making. Thank you to each and everyone of you for your loyalty and dedication to Healthwatch Darlington we couldn’t do what we do without you!”
One of our volunteers, Jamie Odgers said:
"Volunteering for me is about giving back to the community, and being part of something that can make a difference to people's lives. Having the chance to listen to people's stories and hopefully be able to help them in even the smallest way makes volunteering such a worthwhile experience."

"I like working with Volunteers because we get to share ideas as a group, and they provide us feedback on what matters to them.
