Managing Risk Using a Risk Register
Tuesday 28th March 10.00 - 11.30am
This session will look at developing a risk register and ways to mitigate risk. The session will cover the practicalities of risk management, understanding trustee responsibilities for managing risk, being more competent in completing a risk register and ways to reduce risk.
Understanding GDPR for Voluntary and Community Organisations
Tuesday 18th April 10.00 - 11.30am
This session will focus on understanding your responsibilities and developing a data protection policy, understanding what personal data is, the six lawful bases to process data and identifying what needs to be included in your GDPR policy.
Completing a Funding Application: Bring your Project to Life
Thursday 20th April 1.30 - 3.00pm
This session will support you to complete a funding application and will cover understanding the basics of applying for grant funding, how to link your project to a funders’ criteria and a demonstration of the Durham4Community grant finder programme.
Thursday 27th April 10.00am - 11.30am
This session will look at why it is important to engage with your community, the best ways to complete research, use social media to promote your organisation and have an engagement strategy.
Taking Action to become a Greener Voluntary Organisation

This session will cover why we all need to take action now, understanding trustee responsibilities within your organisation, what to include in an environmental policy, creating an action plan for a greener organisation and what we can do to support our community to take action
Understanding Safeguarding for Voluntary and Community Organisations
Tuesday 9th May 10.00 - 11.30am
This session will cover the importance of having a safeguarding policy, understanding your responsibilities for safeguarding within your organisation and what to include in your safeguarding policy.
Understanding Trustee Responsibilities and Good Governance
Tuesday 16th May 10.00 -11.30am
This session is for new trustees explaining your responsibilities within the organisation and how to develop an action plan to ensure best practice. It will cover understanding the importance of good governance, identifying trustee responsibilities and establishing best practice.
An Introduction to Equality and Diversity for Voluntary Organisations
Tuesday 23rd May 10.00 - 11.30am
This session will cover understanding the meaning and purpose of equality, diversity and inclusion, establishing the importance of having a policy, and making practical steps to ensure your organisation’s commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is put into practice.
