Samaritans - #RealPeopleRealStories campaign encouraging men to seek help in tough times

Samaritans have started a new campaign aimed at encouraging men to seek help for their mental health by showcasing stories from other men who've been through tough times and how Samaritans have changed their lives.

In a recent survey conducted by Samaritans:

  • 42% of men said that pandemic restrictions have had a negative impact on their mental health
  • 40% of men said that talking to others helped with concerns and worries they had during the pandemic

...and did you know:

Two in five men aged 20-59 in England, Scotland and Wales don't seek support when they need to, because they prefer to solve their own problems?

This is why Samaritans have launched a new initiative to showcase the stories of men who've sought help from Samaritans in an effort to encourage men to open up. It aims to reach all men before they reach crisis point so they seek help when they need it.

You can find more information about this campaign, read various stories and watch videos of men telling their own personal stories on the #RealPeopleRealStories campaign website.
