Growing Older, Planning Ahead Reports

We have pleasure in sharing reports that offer insights into the needs of people with learning disabilities aged 40 and above in the combined Tees Valley area as well as here in Darlington.

The reports aim to provide the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB) with a greater understanding of this community's requirements to inform and improve the planning process when families can no longer support their loved ones at home.

We gathered feedback from carers, those they care for, and the professionals who support them. Across all groups, there was a consensus that the best outcomes occur when individuals receive support from appropriately trained staff and have access to a strong social network of friends and family, as well as suitable transport and community facilities.

To help NENC ICB achieve the best outcomes, we have outlined seven key recommendations in the reports, covering areas such as adherence to NICE guidelines, effective communication, location considerations, and person-centered planning.

We hope these reports serve as valuable resources and look forward to discussing our findings and recommendations with representatives of the NENC ICB and local authorities. Our goal is to ensure that the voices of those impacted by this service continue to be heard.

Please see the attached reports below for further details and let us know if you have any questions or would like to discuss the findings further - info@healthwatchdarlington.co.uk or call 01325 380145.

Thank you for your continued support.
